Kyra Hudson - Program Manager

Kyra Hudson, Program Manager is currently a Small Claims Mediator and practices as a lawyer and mediator in Vancouver. In addition Kyra has a background and interest in management, leadership and team building as well as workplace conflict management.

Kyra has a Human Kinetics and Law Degree and is a member of the British Columbia Mediator Roster Society and the British Columbia Arbitration & Mediation Institute.

Sharon Sutherland - Manager of Development

Sharon Sutherland

Sharon is Manager of Development for the Child Protection Mediation Practicum and an Assistant Professor at UBC Faculty of Law. Sharon has a long history with the BC Dispute Resolution Practicum Society (DRPS): from 1998-2003, she was co-Program Manager of the Court Mediation Program and from 2003-2006, she served on the Board of Directors. Sharon is a member of the BC Mediator Roster (Civil) and the BC Child Protection Mediator Roster and acts as Clinic Supervisor for the student-run CoRe Conflict Resolution Clinic. Sharon mentors mediators in Child Protection, Small Claims and CoRe mediations, and is the mediation trainer for the Society of Notaries Public.

Sharon is a member of the BC Bar and holds an LL.M. in ADR. She also received her M.A. in Drama and Theatre Studies from the University of London, and has completed all work but her thesis towards a Ph.D. in Drama from the University of Toronto.

Richard Singer - Manager of Training

Richard Singer

Richard Singer, Manager of Training, has a wealth of experience as a mediator, mentor, and trainer. Richard has been a Child Protection mediator since 1996 and has conducted well over 500 child protection mediations. A mediation mentor since 1998, Richard mentors in the Court Mediation Program, Family Mediation Practicum Project, and Child Protection Mediation Practicum. In addition, Richard has cultivated an expertise in organizational development, specializing in workplace mediation, team building, facilitation, and Respectful Workplace training.

Richard holds a Masters' Degree in Counselling Psychology, a Certificate in Conflict Resolution, and a BC Teaching Certificate. He is certified as a Family Relations Mediator.

Andrea Kastanis - Scheduling Coordinator

Robyn Gervais

Andrea Kastanis joined the BCDRPS in August 2007 in the role of Scheduling Coordinator for the Child Protection Mediation Practicum. Her current work as Scheduling Coordinator involves: matching up and scheduling practicum and mentor mediators for child protection mediation cases throughout the province; tracking the progress of mediators as they proceed through the practicum; liaising with various referral sources; and completing all necessary administrative and scheduling arrangements prior to each mediation.

Andrea holds a BA in Criminology and Legal Studies from Simon Fraser University. Her prior non-profit work and volunteerism have focused on social justice issues such as public education for victim assistance programs, community policing, and advocacy for women’s and minority rights.
